What is the role of research in deciding your future career?

How does research influence my future career decision? Research embodies interest, passion and hard work in the field of studies. Personally, in choosing a future career I have to take into account my field of interest and where I really want to invest my passion. Somehow, this reveals the role of research in my future career plan.

In addition, research influences outlooks because of its contributions. In the field of technology particularly, it has been useful in making life convenient, productive and of quality. With this and the notion of receiving much financial gains, I personally find it substantial in deciding my future career.

As a CS/IT student of USEP, what research topics should usually be address?

In doing a research, it is an advantage for the researcher to dwell on a topic related to his/her field or course. For an IT student, it would be better to focus on the needs of the information technology society. For example in the field of internet technologies, as more and more users(commonly students, as what i have observed) are becoming obsessed with these. Most importantly, i would like to borrow Albus Dumbledore's line in HP, "It should be for the greater good".

Benefits of Open Standards

A lot of benefits can be taken from using open standards. These benefits such as flexibility of using office software, better protection of the data files and cost reduction greatly influence various IT sectors. Among these benefits, I would say that the most remarkable one is that open standards allows implementers to have a freedom of choice. As based on the cited reference below, “there is less chance of being locked in by a specific vendor”.

Importance of Open Standards

The importance of open standards applies in many ways. Aside from royalty-free implementation and are publicly accessible, open standards also facilitate effective interoperability. This is which I think the most significant. [1]Interoperability means the ability of two or more systems or components to exchange information that has been exchanged. One way of illustrating this importance is by considering interoperability in telecommunications. To be brief, telecommunicating systems must be interoperable in order for the end-users to worry no more on how their connection be understood by different telecommunicating parties.
